Our History
In 1984 a group of individuals approached the Mid-Atlantic District of The Christian and Missionary Alliance and expressed their desire to join together in birthing a new Alliance church in Frederick. Their request was granted and on September 9, 1984, the fledgling congregation held its first public service. Meeting initially at Rock Creek Center on Waverly Drive, Emmanuel Alliance Church enjoyed steady growth. In 1988 public services were moved to South Frederick Elementary School.
October 23, 1988 was an historic day for the congregation as ground was broken for the erection of a permanent worship and education facility. Much of the construction work was contracted, but various individuals in the church family gave sacrificially of their time and talent to complete specific details of the new building. Dedication Day was September 10, 1989.
In 2018, Emmanuel changed her name to New Design Church and developed a new mission statement to be:
A Christ centered community church
engaged in pursuit of God,
empowered to live by Grace
and equipped to serve others.
We sincerely invite you to join us in fulfilling this exciting mission as we love and serve the Lord Jesus in this community of faith.
